Ringing at St Andrew's Cathedral, Sydney

All services inside the cathedral are currently suspended, and ringing is not required on Sundays for the time being.

However, the cathedral is conducting outside prayer services on Mondays and Thursdays and have requested 5 minutes of ringing from midday on each day.

As many bells as achievable will be appreciated, whether a single bell or several.

If you are available and interested in ringing for these midday prayer services, please let us know. These effectively replace Sunday ringing for now.

The cathedral has encouraged us to continue Monday evening practice and we will continue until we are advised otherwise.

20 March 2020

Update 22 March: We are cancelling normal Monday evening practice. However, we will be able to have a maximum of 6 ringers in the tower at any time, and will be organising ad hoc 6 bell quarters on Monday nights.

Update 30 March: All ringing has now ceased.

[Webmasters' note: this item has been retained in order to show the impact COVID-19 had on ringing at St Andrew's in 2020. Ringing resumed subsequently.]

This page supplements the ANZAB Tower Directory, and records further information about the tower, its bells and ringers.

Some of this has been provided by local ringers, but most is historical and has been gathered by the ANZAB Webmaster since 2002.

Tower officers are encouraged to submit material for inclusion on this page, or suggest changes to its content.
